A community of believers

The Altamont Reformed Church family invites you to share in our worship and join in our fellowship. For more than 125 years, the church has served Altamont Village while reaching out to nearby communities, the Capital Region, and the world.

Getting ready for the rummage sale!

The ARC Rummage Sale will be on Saturday, Sept. 30, as part of the Altamont Fall Festival. If you're planning to make a donation for the sale, come to the church on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please remember we cannot accept clothes, televisions, large appliances, or large pieces of furniture.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to help cover the cost of the recent parsonage renovation. Leftover items will be donated to the Salvation Army.

Volunteers are also needed to contribute baked goods for the bake sale, sort and price donations, work at the sale, pack boxes for Salvation Army pickup, and distribute flyers and signs, among other jobs. If you can help out, please contact Barb Sargent (518-861-8077) or Judi Dineen (518-861-5645).

Adult study group continues discussion of Apocrypha

The Adult Bible Study group will continue its study of the Apocrypha on Tuesday, Sept. 19, with a look at the two wisdom books: The Wisdom of Solomon, and Ecclesiasticus.

The first one, written by an anonymous author under the name of King Solomon, recounts wisdom's role in delivering Israel through the Exodus, and reminds the reader that God is, has been, and always will be with God's people. The second book ponts to the idea that real wisdom is to be found in the traditions of Israel, not in Greek philosophy.

The study/discussion will take place in the downstairs loung from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Participants are urged to read the books before the study time. For more information or if you need a ride, call Elder Kitt Jackson at 518-439-9771.
