Altamont Reformed Church

Safe Sanctuary

Our calling and our responsibility is to ensure safe sanctuary for God's people

Thank you for your interest in serving as volunteer in ARC child and youth ministries. The purpose of Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures is to help reduce the risk of child sexual abuse and other forms of abuse or injury. They are intended to assist Altamont Reformed Church (ARC) in:

  1. Safeguarding the children, youth, and vulnerable adults who participate in the activities of our church from sexual abuse and other forms of abuse or injury.
  2. Dealing appropriately with allegations/disclosures of child or youth sexual abuse.
  3. Protecting church staff and volunteer workers from false allegations of sexual abuse and other forms of abuse or injury.
  4. Limiting the extent of ARC’s legal risk and liability due to sexual abuse and other forms of abuse or injury.

These policies and procedures apply to all those who attend ARC. They have particular significance for paid church staff and volunteer workers that have any kind of contact with children or youth in ARC programs and ministries. This includes any activity being conducted under the auspices of the church at any location. This policy does not apply to organizations using the building or grounds for programs, activities, or meetings not associated with ARC.
